From sample strategies to glossary
German healthcare system has turned hospitals into „enterprises“ which — despite the existing regulatory framework –- have to act within a competitive environment and are exposed to usual market forces. Independent of one’s personal opinion if this approach is truly adequate, particularly given the ‚product‘ at question being health: An individual hospital respectively hospital group is not able to change this even over a mid-term perspective, and is hence forced to survive within these set conditions.
Moreover, the ‚enterprise spirit‘ is not really embedded within first and second management line of healthcare companies. On on side, this serves as an explanation of concepts and implementation levels that can hardly be comprehended from an entrepreneurial perspective — on the other side it hampers the development of quite some hospitals in terms of scope and economic success.
Antegrad develops suitable management systems for the individual leadership task and structure, implements these systems together with the local management, trains the senior leadership staff and gradually pulls out of the company.
